The client
Mechatronics Asia is a New Delhi–based engineering enterprise supplying components and fittings into process-driven industries, including dairy and food applications, where hygiene and material integrity are non-negotiable.
The requirement
The client needed SS 316L concentric reducers for a sanitary process line in two sizes — 1″ OD × ¾” OD and 1½” OD × ¾” OD, in 16 SWG (1.63 mm) wall thickness.
Two factors made the requirement more demanding than a routine fitting order:
- The finish had to be right for the application. For dairy, food and pharmaceutical lines, the internal and external surface finish matters as much as the grade. A standard outside polish is not the same as a true electropolished (EP) surface, which gives a smoother, more cleanable, corrosion-resistant finish suited to hygienic process piping. Asiad confirmed the finish requirement (EP vs. outside polish) with the client before quoting, so there was no ambiguity.
- Material traceability was essential. The client needed documented proof of grade — a chemical Test Certificate — to satisfy quality requirements downstream.
In practice, small-quantity sanitary fittings with a genuine EP finish and proper documentation are not always easy to source quickly. That is exactly the gap this order tested.
The Asiad Steel solution
- Ready stock. The required 316L material was available, so the order did not depend on a long sourcing or production lead time.
- Electropolished to suit the application. The reducers were supplied with the EP finish the client specified for their hygienic line, rather than a generic polish.
- Full traceability. Asiad provided its chemical Test Certificate, giving the client documented confirmation of material grade and composition.
- Clear, no-surprises communication. Specifications, finish and documentation were all confirmed up front, so what was quoted is what was delivered.
The result
Mechatronics Asia received SS 316L electropolished concentric reducers in both required sizes, finished correctly for a sanitary application and backed by a chemical Test Certificate — sourced from ready stock without the delays usually associated with small-batch, finish-specific fittings.

Why it matters
SS 316L is chosen for hygienic process work because its low carbon content resists corrosion and sensitisation, while an electropolished surface is smoother and easier to clean — reducing the risk of product contamination and bacterial harbourage. Pairing the right grade with the right finish and documented traceability is what separates a fitting that merely fits from one that is fit for purpose.
